Skip Rohde"Afghan Faces"

"I came to Afghanistan in the fall of 2011 to help rebuild a stable nation. I've been able to meet frequently with Afghans, mostly officials and tribal leaders. Often, as I sit in meetings, I'll sketch other people in the room - usually Afghans, but often Americans or other coalition members as well. For an artist, these people are fabulous subjects. They have wonderfully unique faces, great dignity, passion, and expressiveness. I could spend all day, every day, drawing and painting them … except I don't think my boss would go for it! My job comes first, obviously - but drawing is a tremendously rewarding second."

This series is still ongoing, and new images will be added periodically.
