"This painting was inspired by an equestrian portrait of King Philip of Spain, done by the great artist Velasquez. King Philip liked to have himself portrayed as a great military leader, when in fact he ran his country into the ground. He reminded me of our current King. The composition, pose and armor were taken directly from the Velasquez painting; the figures of Rove and Cheney were added, and the setting and details changed to tell a modern-day story."
