Rohde is the courtroom artist for WLOS-TV in Asheville, North Carolina. This is a challenging assignment. An artist has to work very fast to get a good likeness, breathe life into it, and have it ready before the broadcast deadline. These drawings were created during the trial of Bobby Medford and Guy Penland. Medford was the former Sheriff of Buncombe County (where Asheville is located) and Penland was a volunteer with the Sheriff's department. Both were charged with crimes related to the operation of illegal video poker machines. The trial lasted over two weeks and Rohde was in the courtroom every day, producing drawings for the noon and evening broadcasts. Here are samples of some of the images used in the WLOS newscasts.
