- Genie Maples is an amazingly talented abstract artist whose studio is just down the hall from mine. Her works and her working method are the exact opposite of mine, and I have unbounded respect for both.

- Art Cries Out is an art site dedicated to art about protest and the war.
- Aaron Hughes is a young man who spent over a year in Iraq. Subsequently he completed a BFA and has produced some very powerful imagery about the Iraq war.
- Laura Buxton is a British artist who was in Bosnia and created a series of works very much like Rohde's Bosnia pieces.
- The National Vietnam Veterans Art Museum is the only museum in the country dedicated to art about combat. Although it focuses on the Vietnam War, it exhibits works about combat from all wars.
